About Me:
Hi there! My name is Joseph Grossi and I am a Computer Science Major who has grown to havve interest in cloud technologies. Before I explored my CS interest, I obtained a bachelors in Communications and Media Studies from BSU, now I'm back and eager to learn more than ever! Outside of computers science, some of my passions are video games, basketball and LEGO! Below are some of the things I've worked on!
Projects:
Hydroficient Cyber Defense Externship
- Built and secured an MQTT-based IoT pipeline using Python, TLS encryption, and device certificates to simulate and protect real-time water monitoring systems.
- Conducted security testing, including replay attack simulations and TLS performance benchmarking, identifying vulnerabilities and tuning defenses.
- Developed a real-time security dashboard using Streamlit to monitor pipeline health, detect threats, and track system status.
NY Racing Data Analytics Externship
- Analyzed publicly available NASCAR race data and sponsorship exposure metrics using Python, web scraping, and API integrations to estimate visibility ROI across a full Cup Series season.
- Built a weighted scoring model combining race performance, social media engagement, and media mentions to rank sponsorship opportunities by exposure efficiency.
- Delivered a data-driven sponsorship strategy recommendation report with publication-quality
visualizations, identifying the highest-value sponsorship targets for NY Racing.
Breaking Games Database Externship
- Designed and built an analytics database in SQLite, unifying six disconnected e-commerce data sources into one queryable system (with Claude as an AI co-pilot), and engineering cleaned views that filtered bot traffic and bad data out of every downstream query.
- Built marketing channel attribution across 400+ referral sources to connect ad spend to revenue, then turned it into a clear recommendation for where the next quarters ad budget should go.
- Built an HTML + Chart.js dashboard and represented a Holiday Game Plan – , what to reorder, where to spend, what to fix.
NBA Scoreboard (Check it out here!!!: https://nba-scoreboard.streamlit.app/)
- Built a real time NBA scoreboard optimized for wide-screen or LED displays
- Fetches live NBA scores and team logos via the ESPN API
- Highlights the leading team in green for easy visual recognition
- Auto refreshes every 30 seconds for real time updates
- Designed for hardware deployment, can currently run on Raspberry Pi or mini-PC and display full screen on monitors or LED boards.
- Implemented a responsive layout with horizontal score alignment and centered team logos
- Developed as a passion project to combine software, APIs and hardware visualization
Java Swing Calculator
- Developed a modular desktop calculator with clear separation between UI and logic.
- Implemented custom ActionListeners to manage arithmetic operations and dynamic interface updates.
- Applied object-oriented design principles to maintain state and ensure scalable, maintainable code.
Certifications:
